Bread in a Chicken Baker?

March 7, 2019 By Eric Lofdahl

Finished Monkey Bread from a Chicken BakerYou read that right. Bread can be made in a Clay Coyote Chicken Baker. Well, monkey bread, that is.

Morgan did a little experiment this morning to see if there is a use for the Chicken Baker besides making delicious, juicy chicken. As it turns out, you can make your main course and something sweet for dessert with the same piece of pottery. She put in the work, and I got to enjoy the results with a cup of coffee after lunch today.

To make monkey bread yourself, start with the following:

  • 1 package of Pillsbury Grands
  • 1/4 C Brown sugar
  • 1/4 C Walnuts
  • 4 T Butter

Preheat oven to 350F. Heat butter and brown sugar, cut up Grands, and mix them into melted butter and brown sugar. Toss in chopped walnuts. (You can toss in 1/4 C of raisins here as well.) Place in chicken baker and bake for 30-35 min. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 min. Using hot pads and a plate, flip the chicken baker over and drizzle with frosting. (Morgan said the monkey bread fell right out without having to grease the chicken baker.)

Morgan made the frosting herself by combining 1/4 tsp vanilla extract; 2 T milk; 1/2 C confectioners’ sugar, sifted; and 1/4 tsp salt.

Try out this recipe yourself! If you need a Chicken Baker, stop by the gallery or order one from our online shop.
