Description

Rooted in Spanish-style cooking, the Clay Coyote Cazuela is one of the most multifaceted pieces we make. Its made even more versatile thanks to our Flameware, which allows you to start your recipe on the stovetop and finish it in the oven. The Clay Coyote Cazuela has deep sides ideal for stews, soups, gratins, paella, and roasting, while the short bulb handle and small tab make transferring and maneuvering more comfortable.

  • Made out of Clay Coyote Flameware.
  • Available in Coyote Gray only.
  • Stamped with Clay Coyote Logo.
  • Made to be used over direct heat such as gas, electric, and glass top stoves.
  • 11” inches in diameter.
  • Microwave, dishwasher, oven, and food safe.
  • Lead, cadmium, and nickel-free and safe for people with metal allergies.

Tips & FAQs:

  • What’s the difference between your large skillet and the Cazuela? The Cazuela has steeper sides and no side pour spouts. They both have similar cooking surface sizes (around a 9-inch diameter). The Cazuela has a shorter bulb like handle, where the large skillet has a traditional style handle. Both have a small triangular secondary handle opposite the main one to help carry it when they are full.
  • Is there a lid for the Cazuela? We don’t make lids for the Cazuelas because they won’t sit right. We recommend one of those multi-sized silicon, BPA-free lids like this one from Target. The only lidded Flameware pieces are our Dutch Oven and our Tagine.
  • Can you put the Cazuela in the dishwasher? Yep! We also recommend the 3M Scotch-Brite Stainless Steel scrubber to really clean it up. The Cazuela won’t scratch.
  • Why is the Cazuela so special? The Cazuela is the workhorse of the Flameware Line. The 9-inch diameter cooking surface and over 2 inch tall walls allows the Cazuela to tackle almost every culinary challenge you can throw at it.
  • Do you need to use oil? A little will go a long way to help make the Cazuela stick-resistant. You don’t have to worry about using metal utensils with Flameware unlike teflon (Polytetrafluoroethylene) pans.
  • Can you use the Cazuela on the grill? Absolutely! The Clay Coyote Grill Basket is the Cazuela but with holes added. The Cazulua is great for grilling when you want to hold in the moisture or a sauce. Please note that grilling, darkens the bottom more than normal stovetop cooking, but that’s part of the patina over time.

I was given this dish as a gift – I absolutely love it! The size is large enough for a good size casserole. Clean up is an absolute breeze – baked on cheese washes off with no effort. Also the handles on both sides makes it easy to lift a weighty dish out of the oven.

I’ve had my Flameware cazuela for many years and find all the Flameware to be fantastic. I have an electric stove (boo) and can put it right on the eye without a flametamer. It goes from the eye to the oven or grill…I mean, what is not to love? And, no matter how burned on the food is (we all do that occasionally, right?), it always comes out easily after a brief soak. These are the best cooking vessels on the planet!

I’m in love! I’ve got several clay pieces but with my electric stove I’m always having to drag out the butane burner. As a result I don’t use them anywhere near as much as I thought I would. Then in walked my Clay Coyote Flameware Cazuela! Of course it’s beautiful; you can see that from the photo! It feels nice to hold and with both the handle and the helper it is easy to move. I’m amazed at how food just slides right off of it when it’s time for cleanup and I can even use metal utensils without them leaving any marks! It actually makes me want to cook just so I can use it! I’ve only one negative – I should’ve found it long ago!

I love this cazuela!! It goes from stoves (I have wood and gas) to oven and cooks everything I’ve put in it perfectly.
I can use it when I can’t use my cast iron pots (tomatoes for instance). My husband loves it because it cleans up so easily. He keeps waiting for things to stick and so far nothing has. Since I got it I’ve been using it several times a week. It’s really become my go to pot/pan. And it’s beautiful!

That’s awesome Karen, it’s our go-to as well. Next up, you might want to try the Grill Basket, it’s the sister pot to the Cazuela, but for the Grill.
