You deserve a Hot Buttered Rum

December 27, 2023 By Morgan

Ahh the mythical week between Christmas and New Years, I can’t think of a better time to make up a big batch of a festive holiday drink. If you are working during this lawless week, you can always make this for New Years or as a fun night cap. This recipe comes from Allrecipes.com and is the top rated, with five stars and 415 ratings!

Once the drink mix is made, it can stay in your freezer for days up to a couple months, making it a great candidate for those needing a make ahead recipe.

Ingredients:  (I know it looks a bit much, but I’m going to trust the process)

  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 1 lb. unsalted butter
  • 1 lb. confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Rum of your choice

Directions:

  1. gather all your ingredients
  2. melt butter in your Clay Coyote Dutch Oven over medium heat
  3. mix in the brown sugar and confectioners’ sugar
  4. remove from the heat, and add in the ice cream, ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg, mixing until blended
  5. pour mixture into freezer safe container and store in freezer until needed

Once you are ready to make a serving, take one tablespoon of the mixture and put it into a mug with 1 oz. of your preferred rum. Fill the mug with boiling water and stir it up to combine it all. If you are feeling festive you can sprinkle some fresh ground nutmeg on top before serving.

Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

a horizontally framed picture. a clay coyote dutch oven is sitting on the iron grate of a stove top gas burner range. The burner is lit and there is a small blue flame visible underneath the dutch oven. The dutch oven is in coyote grey with darker speckles through out the glaze. The lid is on, and the handles are pointing to the left and right sides of the frame. To the left of the dutch ovens are two stacks of clay coyote chili bowls. the nearest stack of bowls is 3 high with dark glazes visible, and the top bowl is in mint chip glaze. The second stack of bowls, slightly behind the first and to the left is 5 high with 2 joes blue, 1 mint chip and a yellow salt glaze on the top. the bottom bowl is hard to tell glaze. Behind the stack of first bowls is a clay coyote large vase in joes blue, filled with a fall bouquet with orange, yellow and red flowers
