Take a virtual stroll, it’s fall on the Clay Coyote prairie

October 17, 2016 By Morgan

It’s a perfect fall at The Clay Coyote and the colors are in full bloom. Morgan and Brett (our intrepid Building and Grounds Manager) took the 1945 International H out for a spin on our walking path through the prairie. Take a look at the photos from our adventure.

The walking path is open to anyone who wants to go for a stroll. Also, any photographers who want a stunning backdrop (class pictures, family shots, engagements….), you’re invited to do photo shoots out here. Just let us know you’re coming.

We have walls!

July 17, 2016 By Morgan

Studio walls being installed at the Clay Coyote
Before, during, and after!

There’s an old saying, “you’re a better door than a window.” In the case of the Clay Coyote Emerging Artist Studio we’ve had doors from the original 1929 pole barn that we’ve been using as windows for the past two decades. All that changed last week when we added walls, energy efficient windows, and new red tin siding to the Studio!

Here’s a before, during, and after photo (sorta). Come out to the Clay Coyote any day of the week for a tour (directions). More pictures and an update on the inside remodel next week.

If you’re interested in learning more about joining our Emerging Artist Studio program please contact [email protected] or call 320-587-2599.

What’s included:

  • Unlimited clay, glaze, & firing
  • Wheels, tools, stamps, slabs included
  • Three electric and one gas reduction kiln w/ advancers
  • Private & collaborative space
  • Ample greenware, bisque, and post production storage
  • Access to glaze recipes & 70+ chemicals
  • Extruder, slab roller

Alexandra & Hans Pflaumer’s Clay Coyote Story

June 5, 2016 By Morgan

So many of you have been a part of the Clay Coyote family and we love to hear your stories.

“Clay Coyote has been a part of my life since I was young.  I feel like Tom, Betsy and team saw me grow up! I purchased my first piece from Clay Coyote when I was 16 years old and it’s been a friendly addiction ever since.

When my mother first started working at Clay Coyote, I looked up to both Tom and Betsy with great appreciation.  They put their heart, soul and elbow grease into a business they were so passionate about, listening to the customers’ needs and opening a gallery, showcasing beautiful, useful art pieces.  They inspired me to start a jewelry business in high school, offering advice and showing their support by giving me the opportunity to sell at trunk shows and open houses-they’re a big reason that I chose to major in entrepreneurship.

As I continued to learn from them, I also acquired more pieces from the gallery and have quite a collection to this day!

My husband, Hans, understood quickly how much the Clay Coyote family meant to me and has, good or bad, also fallen into an addicting appreciation for pottery and art (one just cannot have enough mugs!).

We’ve been to the MN Pottery Festival with friends and family, registered for our Wedding at Clay Coyote, took our engagement photos out on their land and even got one of our cats there!

This business and the community of people surrounding it have become a part of our lives.

We’ve now moved out of state (with diligent care for packing our pottery, no casualties in the move!) and every day, we get to use pieces that we’ve either purchased or been given that give us beautiful memories and an appreciation for the hands that made them.

So what does Clay Coyote mean to us?  It means many things: youth, growth, success, love, care, friendships and family.  The core of Clay Coyote has genuine, hard-working people dedicated to the community and we’re so happy for all of Tom & Betsy’s accomplishments!

We’re also very excited to see how the gallery continues to evolve with Morgan’s leadership and the new products, events and offerings that are to come!”

-Alexandra Pflaumer

If you have a Clay Coyote story (and a photo) to share please send it to Morgan ([email protected]), we’ll post them here on the blog and our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram sites.
