Our Friend Frank

January 21, 2018 By Kylie Lawson

As some of you might know, the Clay Coyote has a special team member. Without her, we wouldn’t be able to haul loads of boxes and equipment, or make it through the winter. She may be on the older side, but she has a heart of gold and has never let us down. Her name is Frankie, and she’s our 1997 F150 red beauty of a truck.

I know you’re probably thinking, “Frank? For a girl’s name?”. Believe me I was too. But here’s the story:

We drove down to Mankato to meet. And it was love at first sight. After the 90 minute drive home, there was no doubt that this truck was of the female persuasion. Morgan wanted to name her Shirley or Lola, but was out voted by the whole team. And Frank was born.

She definitely has her flaws as we all do. She doesn’t also want to go into 4-wheel drive because that means winter has come and she doesn’t like that one bit! She’s also kind of a pain to park, I mean she is strong statured woman so she can be stubborn and hard to maneuver. But we love her no matter what type of mood she’s in.

Over the winter we added a Western plow, and were thinking she needs a name too! Maybe something that works with Frank…like Stein, Beans, Lin, Incense? What do you think? Have any ideas?

In Scotland, it is a tradition to have children name their families plows. Who knew it was such a popular thing? After doing some more investigating, I found some pretty interesting names I thought I’d share. Here are some of my favorites:
– David Plowie
– Luke Snowalker
– Brad Grit
–  Sir Grits A Lot
– Gritney Spears
And my most favorite….. Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti-Slip Machiney. Creative children, am I right?

We look forward to having many more winters (sorry, Frank) and other adventures with Frank and her new friend for years to come.
