Red (white) and beautiful Square

July 4, 2013 By MBaum

Happy Independence Day! The summer has kicked off and the Travel Mug has added a new country to it’s passport: Russia.

Where better to go than Moscow? And once in Moscow you must go to the iconic Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral. Built from 1555-1561 by Ivan the Terrible, the cathedral sits at the geometric center of the city. The square was named from the Russian word красная (said: krasnaya) which can mean either “red” or “beautiful.”

Near or far, as you travel this summer please send in your Travel Mug photos and stories. We’ll add them to the Big Map.

And as you celebrate this 4th of July, stay safe, happy and healthy!
